Principal's Message
Welcome to Lathrop Street Elementary School! Since its founding in 1951, Lathrop Street has set the standard for academic excellence and community involvement. Our teachers here are as dedicated as they come. Their unending compassion and grace set the tone for our student first approach and lay the foundation for their educational years to come. This school is a special place, and I am proud to serve our community as the next principal of the illustrious Lathrop Street Elementary School.
As principal, my mission is simple:
See Every Student - Build Relationships - Foster a Love of Learning
See Every Student. This school is filled with students from different backgrounds and experiences who do an amazing job with understanding those differences and finding the good in each other. As a school we aim to do the same. Creating a safe, nurturing environment allows our students to grow and excel as learners and citizens, not just in school, but throughout their lives. At Lathrop Street, students follow our Meteor Motto: Be Respectful, Be Responsible, Be Safe. Through our PBIS (Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports) program, we help promote important values and focus on finding the positive attributes each student brings to the table.
Build Relationships. Collaboration is key. Community and family engagement is critical to the success of a school, and I am always willing to listen to any ideas you may have to help make this school a better place. I believe families that take an active role in their school greatly increases the level of success for their child. At the end of the day everyone has the same goal, and that is to do what is best for every student. Let’s work together, build a school community, and together ‘WE’ can make a difference.
Foster a Love of Learning. There will be exciting things happening this school year! We are looking forward to having assemblies focused on positive character traits that recognize the successes of our students, after-school clubs, and more engagement for families throughout the school year. Last year, we held a variety of assemblies featuring local professionals who shared great messages. We seek to continue providing impactful presenters for our students that help cultivate dreams and a love of learning.
I am incredibly grateful for the opportunity to serve the students of our district.
They are the reason I am here.
